CLARK COUNTYPOPULATION OF CLARK COUNTY: In 2005, Clark County had a household population of 401,000 - 201,000 (50 percent) females and 200,000 (50 percent) males. The median age was 34.8 years. Twenty-six percent of the population were under 18 years and 9 percent were 65 years and older. The median income of households in Clark County was $50,836.

HOUSEHOLDS AND FAMILIES: In 2005 there were 146,000 households in Clark County. The average household size was 2.8 people. Families made up 69 percent of the households in Clark County. This figure includes both married-couple families (52 percent) and other families (16 percent). Non-family households made up 31 percent of all households in Clark County.

EDUCATION: In 2005, 91 percent of people 25 years and over had at least graduated from high school and 25 percent had a bachelor's degree or higher. Among people 16 to 19 years old, 5 percent were dropouts; they were not enrolled in school and had not graduated from high school.

The total school enrollment in Clark County was 102,000 in 2005. Nursery school and kindergarten enrollment was 11,000 and elementary or high school enrollment was 70,000 children. College or graduate school enrollment was 21,000.

OCCUPATIONS AND TYPE OF EMPLOYER: Among the most common occupations were: Management, professional, and related occupations, 33 percent; Sales and office occupations, 26 percent; Production, transportation, and material moving occupations, 15 percent; Service occupations, 14 percent; and Construction, extraction, maintenance and repair occupations, 11 percent. Eighty percent of the people employed were private wage and salary workers; 13 percent were Federal, state, or local government workers; and 7 percent were Self-employed in own not incorporated business workers.

HOUSING COSTS: The median monthly housing costs for mortgaged owners was $1,455, non-mortgaged owners $410, and renters $912. Thirty-six percent of owners with mortgages, 10 percent of owners without mortgages, and 48 percent of renters in Clark County spent 30 percent or more of household income on housing. Clark County had a total of 153,000 housing units.
